ABOUT TNC
Welcome to the Tux NFT Club!
The Tux NFT Club (TNC) is a very limited collection of 100 Tux NFTs. Each Tux NFT is a unique digital collectible that is programmatically generated from over 50 possible traits. All Tux NFTs are dope; some are rarer than others. They are stored as ERC-721 tokens on the Ethereum blockchain and hosted on IPFS.
TNC aims to gather a community of Linux and open source NFT enthusiasts to connect, network, help each other, and have fun.
Our values as founders of the TNC are very aligned with those of the open source culture and principles:
- Transparency and Trust: We aim to be transparent in all of our activities and build trust with our community members.
- Community First: We aim to listen to our community and put them first; with no community, there is no TNC.
- Open Collaboration: The wild success of open source is its open collaborative methodology. We have a deep appreciation of that model making it a core value of TNC.
Inspiration
The project was inspired by Tux, the coolest and most recognizable mascot in the free and open-source software community. Learn more about Tux from its Wikipedia page.
Proceeds
Portions of the proceeds from the Tux NFTs will be donated to charities supporting displaced families after the devastating Beirut explosion (August 4, 2020). The explosion was one of the largest non-nuclear explosions ever recorded, killing more than 200 people, wounding thousands, displacing hundreds of thousands, and destroying parts of Beirut and its iconic port. We will keep you posted on our donations via our Twitter account.
Acknowledgments
Thank you to all the folks who shared their experiences and tutorial videos on building NFT collections. These experiences were both motivational and helpful in getting us started with TNC. Special mentions go to Jesse from codeSTACKr and the team behind the open source HashLips Art Engine.
